昔のしがらみでたまに中東のニュースを除いたりするのだけれど 昨日の Gulf Daily Newsを久しぶりに眺めていたらサウジで初めて運転免許所を手にした女性の記事がでていた。 サウジの女性は一般的に社会との接点というか exposureが少ないので そういう経験のまま いきなり、特に 運転環境の悪い サウジの道路のなかにほっぽり出されて大丈夫なのかしらんと 心配してしまう。
それはさておき 同じところに サウジ人女性の駆け落ちというか恋の逃避行の記事があって 思わず読み入ってしまった。

とある裕福なサウジファミリーの娘さん(27歳)が その家のおかかえ運転手(インド人 30歳)と恋に落ちてしまった。 しかし、このインド人の運転手、今年の２月に（契約終了か娘との関係を危惧した父親が帰還させたのか不明だけど）故郷のインドに帰ってしまった。 娘は 彼と離れて暮らすことはできないとサウジを飛び出し、ネパール経由でインドに密入国、その後 デリーまで行き そこで迎えにきた恋人―運転手と（手に手をとってー手に手を取っては書かれていませんでした） 彼の故郷 Nizamabad まで行き そこで結婚したと。
さて娘の出奔を感知したサウジ人の父親はインドまで飛んで行き さらにサウジ大使館員とともに この運転手の故郷であるNizamabad （ハイデラバードの近く）まで行ったが娘は帰る事を拒否 彼と一緒にインドで暮らすのと宣言したそうだ。
父親はインド当局に対して、私の娘は不当に誘拐されてインドに連れてこられたのであるという申し立てをしたようだが 娘はやはりインド政府に自らおもむき 不当入国したことを認めた上でインド滞在の許可を申し出たと。
これに対してインド警察は “結局彼女はその自由意志でインドに入国したのであり、父親の言うところの 誘拐には当たらない として ケース クローズド (Case Closed) した” と 書かれている。 これが事実ならインド警察もなかなかやるなと思う。
サウジでの駆け落ちの話は悲しい結末が多いようだけど 今回は成立したのだろうか。 父親の財力にまかせて結局 強制帰国などということにならないと良いのだけど。 もし帰国してしまったら 今度は宗教警察のようなものが出てきて 不幸なことになってしまいそうだ。

Saudi woman sneaks into India and marries lover
Hyderabad, India: A woman from an affluent Saudi family fell in love with a 30-year-old migrant worker from Nizamabad, who was employed as a driver with her father. The 27-year-old broke the shackles of a conservative Saudi household, travelled to Nepal and then sneaked into India to meet her lover and tie the knot with him in Nizamabad, according to the Sunday Times of India.
When the father flew to Hyderabad in search of her a few days ago and lodged a complaint against the boy, the daughter, on Saturday (June 2), gave a statement to the Hyderabad Central Crime Station that she wants to stay in India with her husband.
After the boy returned to his native Nizamabad in February, the girl informed her boyfriend that she cannot stand their separation any more and would reach him soon.
"The girl slipped out of Saudi Arabia in May and entered India illegally through the Indo-Nepal border. She then reached New Delhi from where she was picked up by the boy. The couple reached Nizamabad and got married," deputy commissioner of police (CCS) Avinash Mohanty said.
Her father came to Hyderabad along with Saudi Arabian embassy officials a few days ago. Unaware that his daughter had already married, he lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter was abducted by his former driver and, accordingly, a case was registered at CCS.
The police went to Nizamabad and traced the girl on Friday, but she refused to return. On Saturday, her statement was recorded. Since the girl entered India illegally, she approached the Indian government to help her in regularising her stay by granting permission.
"She told us that she came to India voluntarily, so the charge of abduction cannot sustain and the case will be closed," sources in CCS said.
